Roof Damage Photo Checklist
Use this free checklist to document roof damage before emergency tarping or cleaning up. Protect your claim by capturing the right evidence safely.
- Safety First: Never climb on a damaged or slippery roof. Take photos from the ground or a secure ladder.
- Take wide shots of the entire house exterior, capturing all four sides.
- Photograph missing, lifted, or torn shingles from multiple angles.
- Take close-ups of tree limbs, debris, or impacts on the roof structure.
- Capture images of damaged fascia, soffits, and gutters.
- Photograph the ground around the house to show fallen shingles or materials.
- Go inside and photograph any water stains on ceilings or running down interior walls.
- Take pictures inside the attic (if safely accessible) to show daylight shining through or active leaks.
- Record a continuous video walking around the property, narrating the damage you see.
- Take all photos BEFORE a roofer installs emergency tarps, if possible.
